Uh-oh! No good!

margotgrissomErm... right. After nine years of more or less reckless driving without any accidents, I actually managed to crash my car today. Rather spectacularly even, as it ended up on its side in a ditch.
I was on my way to the stable, doing about 20 miles on the dirt-road that leads there - which was horrible muddy, so I was quite careful -, driving the usual slalom to avoid the gargantuan potholes when suddenly the curb simply gave way and I crashed into the ditch.
We had pretty horrible weather here lately, including two thunderstorms just today, so the curb must have been so wet and loose that it basically disintegrated under my car. I drive that route three to six times a week, for almost three years, and I never, ever had any serious trouble. So, yeah, that was one hell of a nasty surprise.
On the up-side though, I wasn't hurt, the weather was lovely - no waiting in the rain or cold - the stable owner came with her dog to keep me company, the policemen were really nice, the ADAC (German AA) man was such a fun fellow and... my car still runs. I actually drove home in it (against the advise of the ADAC man).
I need to get it to the garage to have the underside checked for any damages but as far as I can tell, there's nothing wrong with it aside from a bent antenna, a tiny dent and some scratches in the paintwork. Mechanically I couldn't spot a single fault.
Things we learn from that: Getting out of a car that's lying on its side is quite difficult, driving slowly doesn't do shit to prevent accidents, I really like the new, black uniforms the German police force has nowadays, and Toyotas are indeed near indestructible.
Even though it's not a Hilux.
